This place was established as an ethnological museum (Chiang Mai Museum) and a center for studying, preserving and disseminating arts and culture of Chiang Mai Province and the upper North, which we call “Lanna”. What is worth seeing in this museum is the various stories that open the way for you to learn from the exhibition section, which is divided into 2 floors, 3 sections per floor, collecting items related to arts and culture of the North, such as Buddha images of various Lanna styles and Buddha images of the Chiang Saen period, carved wood, northern ceramics, daily utensils of Lanna people and various hill tribes, historical photographs of Chiang Mai. The exhibition is divided into 6 sections: Exhibition section 1 shows the background of the Lanna land, the landscape and environment of the North, prehistoric human settlements, the Lawa tribes and Hariphunchai, the first state in the North. Exhibition section 2 shows the history of the Lanna Kingdom. Exhibition section 3 shows the relationship between Chiang Mai and the Kingdom of Siam. Exhibition section 4 shows the story of trade and economy. Exhibition section 5 shows the story of life and social development. Exhibition section 6 shows the evolution of Lanna art and art in Thailand.
